What would it cost to replicate kristin chenoweth’s Ring From Josh Bryant?

In recent Broadway, Movie, Cartoon, TV… well, anything news, because Kristin Chenoweth is everywhere, she recently announced her engagement to Josh Bryant. It's hard to follow any media over the past decade and not run into the glamorous Chenoweth as she's a woman of many talents. While the songstress is known for her Broadway role of Glinda in "Wicked," as well as hundreds of TV appearances, for us here at theringadviser.com, she's our go-to Maleficent from the Disney movie "Descendants." After what looks like a three-year relationship, it's nice to see one of our favorite Broadway stars get hitched. But enough about the couple, we're interested in the ring, so let's get to it!

Breaking down the kristin chenoweth Ring

The engagement ring comes from Bruce G. Weber Diamond Cellar in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is unique in many ways. Chenoweth's ring features a prominent three-stone design with a halo surrounding each stone, eschewing the recent celebrity trend of super large solitaire rings. The ring's centerpiece is the three Oval Diamonds, with the center stone estimated at 2.5-Carat, while the adjacent stones are about 1.5-Carat each. Forming the halo are an additional 55 Diamonds and four faint pink sapphires on the band under the mounting. All in, we should be looking at about $75k for the one-of-a-kind dazzler. Let's break this down to see what it would cost to duplicate and see if we can do better.

To put this ring together, we will have to start with the three Oval Diamonds that make up the three-stone setting. Going over to James Allen, we chose three lovely Oval Diamonds featuring the requisite 2.5-carat center and 1.5-Carat side stone arrangement. We chose this 2.50 Carat Oval Diamond for the center stone featuring a D Color, IF Clarity, and Excellent Polish and Symmetry. Basically a perfect Diamond for $43,730. For the side stones, we chose a 1.50 Carat Oval Diamond with H Color and VVS1 Clarity plus another 1.50 Carat Oval Diamond with H Color and VVS1 Clarity, also from James Allen. These come in at $11,510 and $11,860 respectively.

With the diamonds settled, we need to focus on the Halo settings, which are equally as important. Given the customized nature of the setting, you'll be hard-pressed to find an off-the-shelf version that will meet our needs. However, as a general guideline, a top-notch halo setting will run you about $4-$5k. Rounding this up to $15,000 for the setting would put the total ring at $82,000. This number can easily be shaved $10-$15k by choosing a central stone with less flawless but still eye-clean characteristics.

Next, while some savings are available by being a bit choosier with the Diamond, we're going to go a bit more off-the-shelf with readily available settings. Let's see how close we can get the same style ring with a similar presence while sticking to a "semi-reasonable" budget?

Budget Kristin Chenoweth RING

As stated above, given the unique and custom nature of Kristin Chenoweth’s ring, it would be virtually impossible to duplicate on a budget. Thus, we will go with this beautiful three-stone halo setup from Blue Nile that only needs to center stone to finish out the look. The total weight of this setting is .76-Carat and comes in at $4,590. To keep the proportion correct, we will pair it with this 1.50-Carat Oval Diamond with Very Good Cut, H Color, and VVS1 Clarity for $12,216. This would put us all in at $16,806.

You can see this is a spectacular setup. At first glance, given the price differential, you'd think the difference would be huge. But, as you can see in the side-by-side comparison above, we feel that the budget ring does a great job of maintaining the original spirit. So, if you don't have $80,000 for a one-off three-stone halo ring, know that it can be had for about $60,000, and you can put together a budget-friendly one for under $20,000.
